Coffee sippin', fire pit snugglin', sweater wearin', porch swingin' time is HEEEERREEE!! Happy, happy (almost) fall y'all!! I hope everyone is soaking up good times and cool nights with your favorite life journeyin' pals.
Much like the changing seasons, this site has taken turns at the pace of a ping pong match. It has come-a-ways since joining the web and has seen many changes, but I've enjoyed every bit of it and I hope you guys have too. In saying that, some ideas have been cookin' up for a new chapter of the Chelsea's Creations journey and I'm excited to start bringing them to life.
As some may already know, I decided to part ways with my Elementary Ed path to start paving a new one as an art student. I've been running with it for a whole year now and I'm really starting to feel like I've nestled into a place where I'm meant to be. Since switching majors, part of my course credits involved an hour long lecture, once a week, given by artists chosen by each leg of the art department. Some artists had been established for many years, sharing their wisdom of what-not-to-do's, wish-I'd-done's, and their long chased/well earned smooth(er) sailin' chapter. Other artists were still figuring things out, sharing with us their journey and goals for the future. Regardless their time of practice - each artist to step behind the podium was an inspiration and each of their ambitions were admired, I thought, much more than they'll ever realize or give themselves credit for. Week after week, we listened to the hoops and hurdles overcame, and got a glimpse of the passion these individuals felt toward what they do and the things they create. I felt myself sinking into their stories and before you know it, the hour was up and I was anxiously waiting for the next lecture to come around.
Each of us have stories of passion, triumph, failure, and the many other feelings this adventure hands us. I feel, with everything in me, that every aspect of our story happens for a reason and I've become fascinated with people's stories- whether it be the phase of unfolding reasons or the period of trusting patiently and faithfully as another trek begins. In saying that, I hope to turn this little blog into a corner of all things good - the sharing of stories, quotes that enrich, tidbits that getcha grinnin' - just a spotlight on the simple, lighthearted things in life. I hope this spec of the web can spark a grin and occasionally serve up a slice of good ol' soul food.
I'd LOVE to see this become a collaboration of those following along, if you so wish, to share anything that brings a smile to your day or a slice of your story. I'm going to do my best to keep tidbits coming regularly and as far as the collaboration portion, the comments section ought to work for now.
The Future Seasons:
What Chelsea's Creations may become - I'm unsure - but, a dream of mine is for it serve as a soil to seeds of all kind. A place that is open to all, to create anything. A place of "kick-your-shoes-off, stay a while" atmosphere where people of all backgrounds can feel like family. A place where maybe even the lost trades can make a comeback for the next generations. A place of front porch pickin', rockin' chair sittin' company. Just a place to let go.
I know and have seen first-hand the power of the creative process. Working as an art teacher for a short while and at an art studio, I witnessed this innocence and raw joy in people of all ages as they sank into their own world of imagination. I'd hope to provide an environment for others to sprout in their own direction - to channel that childlike imagination and to create memories to be cherished for a lifetime.
I hope this season of life finds everyone well, and I'm looking forward to the possibilities of the adventures yet to come. Thanks for journeyin' with me.
